The epic conclusion of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy is set to arrive this December, and oddly enough we hadn’t received any official looks at the recently re-titled third chapter (now The Battle of the Five Armies). At least up until this couple weeks.
It all started with the first image of the movie, featuring Gandalf and Bard looking pretty terrified at what we can imagine is an incoming Smaug. You can see that below:
At San Diego Comic Con this weekend, Warner Bros. showed off The Battle of the Five Armies at their panel; revealing the first teaser trailer for the movie, as well as the menacing first poster. Now that SDCC has come and gone, it didn’t take too long for Warner Bros. to put the teaser up online for the public to see.
And it’s pretty damn incredible! Check out the teaser below:
Another poster also hit the web today, featuring Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, kneeling with his sword Sting. See that below:
I know there’s been several of hit-or-miss reactions to The Hobbit films so far. Some complain the films come off as childish compared to the Lord of the Rings trilogy (as if they’ve never read the novels), and some are still bent that, yes….CGI exists. However, I’m one of the people who really enjoyed both An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug, but have to admit this teaser alone seems that The Battle of the Five Armies has a much more epic scale than the first two.
What do you think? Are you excited to see the concluding chapter of the Middle Earth franchise?
See The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in theaters on December 19th.
