Arguably one of the biggest & baddest names of Hollywood in recent years is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The guy’s awesome; he’s currently part the hot film franchises Fast & Furious and G.I. Joe, as well as a handful of successful one-time outings like Snitch, Pain & Gain and the upcoming Hercules. He has also said that he is currently attached to a future DC Comics film, though we’re not sure which yet.
Johnson can at time be comparable to a modern day Schwarzenegger or Stallone, turning out fun projects left and right. And it doesn’t look like he’ll be slowing down anytime soon. Variety is reporting that Johnson is in”early talks” to star in The Janson Directive, a movie from Bourne author Robert Ludlum. The Rock is in talks to both star in and produce the film.
The book follows a former consular ops agent who, after leaving covert operations due to the high number of sanctioned serial killings, goes into business as private security consultant. Teamed with a sharpshooter, Janson only takes assignments that he believes will lead to helping those in need.
Apparently Universal Studios is very keen on this project, which could end up becoming a new action series.
Are you excited to see The Rock take on a Jason Bourne-esque movie franchise?
In the meantime, see Johnson in Hercules on July 25th, Fast & Furious 7 on April 3rd 2015, and San Andreas on June 5th, 2015.
