We’re about halfway through Summer 2014, and the hoard of May & June blockbusters have seen their time in theaters. Out of the movies we’ve seen so far, X-Men: Days of Future Past has been the best reviewed, and frankly most surprising of the year so far. Many fans who have been weary of the most recent X-Men installments were pleasantly surprised about director Bryan Singer’s return to the franchise. Days of Future Past was thrilling from beginning to end, with a brilliant narrative and flawless visual effects.
It was originally questionable that the movie, which is set in two different eras, may end up a bit crammed with its 2hr 11min runtime (short by today’s standards of big-budget flicks). In the end, Singer proved otherwise, and created a film that never had a dull moment, and used every second to its advantage.
However, one thing was missing in the final product; and that was Anna Paquin’s character Rogue. Originally set to have an integral role in the plot that would be a deciding factor for the fate of the Future X-Men team, her scenes were cut altogether, except for *SPOILER* a brief cameo at the end of the movie (she even showed up in the first trailers). Even so, her name is still credited pretty high on the cast list, so we’d figure at one point or another her deleted scenes would appear on the Blu-ray/DVD release.
Now, we learn that not only will we be receiving deleted scenes with the home release, but Bryan Singer is planning a Director’s Cut (as if the movie wasn’t incredible already), which can only assumed will feature Rogue’s missing scenes. The confirmation comes from the film’s producer Lauren Shuler Donner via her twitter. See below:
Are you excited to see Anna Paquin back in action as Rogue, with the help of the Future X-Men?
X-Men: Days of Future Past does not yet have a Blu-ray/DVD release date, but stay tuned for any further information.
