In a bit of a good news-bad news reveal today, it has been reported that actor Harrison Ford actually broke his left leg on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII last week, rather than his ankle as was reported. Seemingly worse with each update, this story may concern fans eager to see Episode VII next December.
However, we’ve also learned today that Ford, 71, is already on the road to recovery. The actor’s publicist, Ina Treciokas, reported to BBC today that, while Ford did break his leg during filming, he will begin rehab shortly. He also received immediate surgery on his leg, which was successful.
Treciokas also added that he’s “doing well and [looking] forward to returning to work.”
As previously reported, it could take up to eight weeks for Ford to recover enough to return to filming his scenes for Episode VII. In the meantime, director J.J. Abrams and crew are busy shifting their shooting schedule around so that they can still hit their December 18th, 2015 release date; which is reportedly staying put.
However, it was originally revealed that shooting for the film will take place over the next five or six months, so leaving time to film Han Solo in action come August or September will still leave plenty of time (over a year) for post-production on the movie.
