After injuring his ankle on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII at Pinewood Studios in London last Thursday, the film’s star Harrison Ford was hospitalized. There has since been varying reports regarding his exact injury; rumors surfacing that Ford, 71, may have other health problems as well.
While most of those rumors come from “gossip sites” and should be taken with the largest grains of salt, we now learn from THR that Ford broke his ankle during filming, and will be sidelined from work for eight weeks to recover.
THR also reports that Episode VII is still set to hit theaters on its December 18th, 2015 release date, confirming that the movie will continue filming other scenes. It makes sense that filming will resume as planned, and going back to film Harrison’s scenes later this Summer or in the Fall. That would still leave over a year of post-production.
Ford will be reprising his role as Han Solo from the first three Star Wars films between 1977 and 1983.
Stay tuned for any further updates on Ford’s injury, as well as Episode VII.
