A bit of concerning news comes today from the Lucas camp, as it’s being reported that Harrison Ford, set to star in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, was injured on Wednesday on the set of the film.
The news comes straight from Disney, who revealed that Ford, 71, was hospitalized after sustaining a bad ankle injury while filming. According to Disney, “he was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care”.
Ford was in the middle of filming Episode VII at Pinewood Studios in London when a hydraulic door reportedly fell and hit the actor, which possibly fractured his ankle. He was then airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.
While an ankle injury is nowhere near as serious an injury as it could’ve been, it is unclear whether or not they will have to postpone filming Harrison’s scenes, and if so for how long. It’s been said that Ford’s character Han Solo will have a major role in Episode VII, so best wishes to the actor to make a speedy recovery.
As it turns out, I guess taking care of himself isn’t what Han Solo is best at after all. (Sorry, it had to be done).
Stay tuned for any updates there may be regarding his injury.
UPDATE: According to Disney, shooting for Episode VII will continue on schedule while Ford recovers.
Star Wars: Episode VII is set to hit theaters on December 18th, 2015, directed by J.J. Abrams.
