Since the announcement of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel in 2013, we’ve learned who the principle cast members will be, and more recently that it will be filmed back-to-back with the inevitable Justice League team-up film, which Snyder will also be at the helm of.
Most recently we were shown a teaser photo of what the film’s Batmobile will look like, as well as Ben Affleck’s Batsuit, courtesy of Snyder’s twitter. With filming set to begin in Michigan, odds are it would only be soon enough before we get more details about the long-awaited Bats vs. Supes movie.
Fans have been speculating what the upcoming sequel, tentatively known so far as Batman vs. Superman or simply Man of Steel 2, would actually end up being called.
Now, Variety reports that Warner Bros. has officially announced the title of the movie will be Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and that principle photography will begin today in Detroit. The logo for the film, sporting the new title (as well as the logo similar to the one on the previously mentioned Batsuit) can be seen below:
As a lead-in to Justice League (supposedly due in 2017), the title makes a whole lotta sense, playing directly on the franchise name, but at the same time setting straight that Dawn of Justice will be its own film, and not just a checklist tie-in. However, “V” instead of “Vs.” seems more formal, though there’s still plenty of time to stick an ‘s.’ if they see fit.
What do you think of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as the title of Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel? It is currently set to hit theaters on May 6th, 2016, starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Jeremy Irons.
