J.J. Abrams Delivers On-Set ‘Episode VII’ Video Featuring a New Alien!

After the big casting announcement for Star Wars: Episode VII a few weeks back, it seemed clear that from this point on we’d be getting more and more bits of info about the film every so often, especially now that it has officially begun filming.

The movie’s director J.J. Abrams has just posted an on-set video, directly from Abu Dhabi, confirming the recent rumor that the city would indeed be a location for filming (assuming Abu Dhabi will serve as a replica of desert-based planet Tatooine).

In the video, Abrams offers fans a chance to participate in the actual movie by participating in the new “Star Wars: Force for Change” charity.  You and a friend could be chosen to be flown out to London’s Pinewood Studios, to take part in a scene in Episode VII!

As hands-on as the opportunity sounds, perhaps the coolest part of the video for the average fan is the very practical, hopeful alien that photobombs the video.  The costumed alien seems to be some sort of merchant that will appear on Tatooine, and seems like something from the late Jim Henson’s mind.

Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters on December 18th, 2015.
