Out of all the comic book movies due out in 2014, it seems that X-Men: Days of Future Past is the one with the least amount of advertisement, yet some of the biggest buzz. Torn, you have the fans who cannot wait to see this movie, and in the other corner the people who have given up (perhaps a bit too early) on the X-Men film franchise.
The movie is set to hit theaters on May 23rd, and will combine the ensemble casts from both the original X-Men trilogy, as well as the younger cast from X-Men: First Class in a story heavily-focused on time travel. The objective? The modern versions of characters like Charles Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine must go back in time to help prepare their past selves from an imminent threat to all mutants, the Sentinels; mutant-hunting robots created by Boliver Trask.
So far, the first two trailers have seemed a bit more drama-heavy than showing much action, proving that there is an inevitable threat at hand, but not necessarily showing just how big the threats are. Now, the third and final trailer for Days of Future Past has been released, and utilizes nearly three minutes very well. The trailer can be seen below:
As mentioned, this finale trailer definitely reveals more of the actual plot that we will end up seeing, rather than just an overview of the whole “time travel” theme. Wolverine takes charge this time around, and looks to be the star of the new film once again. Fan favorites like Beast and Mystique are also showcased.
What do you think? Is this the best of the three trailers? Are you excited to see Days of Future Past?
X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters May 23rd, directed by Bryan Singer, and starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicolas Hoult, Halle Berry, and Peter Dinklage.
