Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theaters June 27th, the fourth film in Michael Bay’s series based on the “robots in disguise”. The first trilogy grossed billions of dollars worldwide, and made the 80’s-based franchise immensely popular once again.
Age of Extinction is set to follow the events of the third movie, Dark of the Moon, dealing with its destructive battle of Chicago, resulting in the fall of the Transformers. Mark Wahlberg will take on the leading human role this time around, replacing Shia LaBeouf from the first three movies
And although a number of the familiar Transformers were brought down in Dark of the Moon, we can still count on seeing fan-favorites like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee make their return this Summer.
Bay recently talked with Entertainment Weekly about Age of Extinction and the future of the Transformers film saga:
“It’s kind of like a new ‘Transformers.’ We had three, the first trilogy, and this is going to be the next one… I’m not necessarily sure that I’m doing [the others], but that’s what it’s meant for.”
Which makes sense, as plans for a Transformers 5 was recently confirmed for 2017; giving fans even more to look forward to beyond this Summer.
In addition, 13 new character images have been revealed of the flick’s non-human characters, but most interestingly the highly-anticipated Dinobots. The awesome new animated profile pics can be seen below:
Grimlock, Dinobot Slug, Lockdown, and Scorn all appeal to me the most, as well as the return of Optimus Prime. But what do you think? Are these designs cool, and which are you excited to see on-screen most of all? Be sure to shoot your thoughts in the comments below.
