Well, the wait is over guys and girls! The long, long-awaited first trailer for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy has finally arrived! And it shines bright. Everything about this trailer looks awesome, only leaving you craving more.
In a sum-up, you have Chris Pratt being hilarious, Gamora and Drax seemingly quiet-but-deadly, Rocket Raccoon and Groot in some great action sequences (yet with no dialogue yet from either), and a ton of incredible scenery, as well as other key characters.
But why waste time explaining it? Watch the first trailer HERE:
Insane, right? We saw a lot of Peter Quill/Star Lord, some great action from Drax, Gamora, Groot and Rocket, and a surprising amount of John C. Reilly’s character….I felt this trailer gave off great, ballsy charisma, reminding me of a mix between the original Star Wars trilogy, the newer Star Trek films, and drawing a lot of influence from other Action/Sci-Fi films from the past.
I decided to go through and screenshot some of the sequences that stood out most to me, and those can be seen below (in case you didn’t catch some of them at first glance in the trailer):
First off, the newest logo for the film looks great, and really matches the Marvel Studios titles in the past, such as Thor or Thor: The Dark World.
Peter Quill/Star Lord eying a mysterious orb, rumored to be one of the collective Infinity Stones. Whatever it ends up being, it’s got Quill’s attention, and has made it onto the marketing campaign so far.
Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, looking badass and seems to be easily-angered.
Marvel is already trying to take advantage of Rocket Raccoon’s size. Anyone else notice the written mentioning of his Otter counterpart Lylla? While she may not make the cut for the film, it’s a cool easter egg for comic fans.
Again, Chris Pratt with the humor. This guy’s great; Peter Quill giving the Nova Corps the finger. Classic.
One of my favorite shots from the trailer: these great, mighty characters being led in mere handcuffs in an orderly fashion. Something tells me that won’t last too long.
Brothers in arms; Rocket Raccoon and his pal Groot, in action in what is most likely a prison riot; chalk this up as a highlight.
Nebula is one of the characters who stood out the most in this trailer. She looks dark, focused and brutal; and I like it.
While the trailer didn’t give us too much insight to Lee Pace’s character Ronan the Accuser, it appears that this is he who is apparently holding Drax up by the throat. The synopsis calls for tension between the two, so I wouldn’t doubt it.
Remember this guy? Benicio Del Toro as Taneleer Tivan/The Collector. He appeared in the mid-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World, and was basically the first glimpse at what Guardians of the Galaxy would feel like.
Star Lord fighting extreme weather conditions, showcasing his stellar mask all of us hoped to see. Really want to see a lot of this.
Groot, after easily throwing someone out of frame. Pure awesomeness.
Not to complain whatsoever (we DID just get this trailer, after all), but some of the things missing in this trailer, I noticed, include:
I’m sure we’ll get more from those characters, as well as more glimpses of the movie, as the months come and go.
But in the meantime, this trailer will do JUST fine. What did you think about the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer?

The trailer actually took me by surprise- I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do. It looks fantastic!
It sure was. I had high expectations from waiting so long but it definitely delivered. Marvel’s own space opera, I cannot see how this movie could end up failing with audiences
