Well, James Gunn wasn’t lying; we didn’t see the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer during the Super Bowl. But instead, we did get new trailers for two of Marvel’s other 2014 efforts: The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Both trailers look incredibly cool, and probably the best look we’ve received from both to date.
Here are the full trailers released from the brief Super Bowl spots:
Captain America: The Winter Soldier – Trailer #2
Woah. Like I said, probably the best look we’ve had the chance to see of The Winter Soldier yet. Tons of Falcon, tons of Winter Soldier, tons of action multiple Captain America suits. It’s shaping up to be one of Marvel Studios’ best efforts yet. But there’s also some questions within the 2.5-minute trailer. For instance, one scene has Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers standing over a body that is covered by a sheet, presumably deceased. While many are speculating who it could be, I want to say it will be Nick Fury. Although Samuel L. Jackson has a few movies left on his contract, I think that Marvel may finally put the whole “Life Model Decoy” concept to good use by bringing Fury back to life. When you think about it, it’d probably be the most exciting thing to happen to Nick Fury in the whole film series so far, as he’s usually one of the one-liner characters who runs things from behind the scenes. Either way, I could be totally wrong. But it’s looking better and better with each new look we get, and I cannot wait for April 4th, now just two months away.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – Trailer #2
Again, woah. Awesome new Spidey trailer. This time around, the creators seem to have found a way to have three villains in one film without it being crowded (not pointing fingers, Spider-Man 3). Lots of cool footage of Electro vs. Spidey, as well as snippets of Rhino and Goblin in action. Also, this new trailer only furthers the speculation that Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy character will meet her doom in the new film. The suspense is leading up big time. TASM 2 is set for a May 2nd release date, and I’m stoked. The new trailer gives us a better look at Electro’s origin, as well as Spidey attempting to conquer three villains at once. Who else is excited?
Also, we were given our first look during the Super Bowl of the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction, which gave us a killer glimpse of the much-anticipated Dinobot “Grimlock”, who stands massively in comparison to Optimus Prime standing on its back. How cool is this? Check it out below:
