‘Seinfeld Reunion’ Appears During Super Bowl, Great Nostalgia

Well, last week it was reported that Jerry Seinfeld confirmed a Seinfeld reunion, of sorts, would be coming “very, very soon”.  Sooner than most probably expected, the mini-reunion ended up being aired partially during the Super Bowl tonight.

The clip, although denied by Jerry to be part of his web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, was indeed just that, featuring Jason Alexander, reprising his role as Seinfeld‘s George Costanza.  The short follows Jerry and George on Super Bowl Sunday, as they visit the famous Tom’s Restaurant in NYC (the exterior of the restaurant was used as the familiar coffee shop throughout the Seinfeld series).

Screen Shot 2014-02-03 at 12.29.47 AMJerry and Jason’s chemistry together is just as brilliant, witty and hilarious as it was 15 years ago.  The bickering, the quick wit, and constant deprecation of each other’s flaws is what made Seinfeld so perfect to begin with.  There was even a cameo appearance by Wayne Knight’s character Newman.

So great, so memorable.  While a brief spot as a Super Bowl commercial, the full 6-minute clip is now online.  The reunion short can be found HERE

What do you guys think?  I honestly think with this kind of character chemistry that we really do need more of this.  It’s just so natural and flawless.  Just like the actual series.
