To me, 21 Jump Street was the best comedy of 2012. Sure, Ted was just as funny, but I think 21 Jump was a major underdog. When people first heard they’d be rebooting the 80’s TV series, I know for a fact there was a fair amount of negativity towards it. The result was a hilarious, clever adaption that proved strong.
Now, Phil Lord and Chris Miller are returning to direct the implied sequel, 22 Jump Street. The movie is set to hit theaters on June 13th, and brings back not only the directing team, but most of the main cast. Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, Rob Riggle, and Dave Franco will all be reprising their roles, as the “McQuaid brothers” (Hill and Tatum) are sent to college on an undercover drug bust mission.
The first trailer was released back in December, and made me really laugh. Though the plot does seem a bit too parallel to the first film, I still think it’s going to prove just as funny, and again one of the best comedies of the year (from a guess at least).
We now have a brand new poster for the film, with Hill and Tatum showing off gold handguns, standing on the hood of a nice-looking ride. The poster can be seen below:
