So far, the upcoming live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles due out August 8th has been very nervously awaited. Not much has been revealed about the film. So far, we know Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans) is directing, Michael Bay is producing, and the fact that there’s a fairly unknown cast tied to the film, with the exceptions of Will Arnett and the questionable Megan Fox.
Fans have a right to feel annoyed or frustrated at this point. About half a year until the film is set for release in theaters, and that’s all we have. No actual footage, plus no exact plot, equal lots to question. The main four Ninja Turtles (Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo) will be motion-captured using CGI, which is a cool direction to go in with a film like this.
The main question around the web has simply been people wondering; what will our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles end up looking like? Things have been kept under wraps so far, but now we may have some sort of idea and answer to this question.
ComicBookMovie.com has reported that somebody “close to the production” has revealed a few images that show off maquettes (scale figures) of the four Ninja Turtles, and if they are real, well, I am impressed. The turtles look darker, grittier, and less childish than many probably had thought they would be over the past months. The site also has some concept artwork to show for Shredder, familiar villain of the franchise and upcoming film.
Here are the photos that were leaked, thanks to CBM
What do you think of these recent photos? It’s possible we could see a first trailer attached to Paramount’s Noah at the end of March, or even Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier in early April. Either way, I’m now even more eager to see some actual footage from this flick!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set to hit theaters on August 8th.
