Among the endless list of franchise films set for 2015 release dates, Jurassic World is definitely one of most anticipated, especially for fans of the original Jurassic trilogy. This installment has been in the works for a while now, but will finally see a release on June 12th, 2015.
Later in 2013, actor Chris Pratt said that he was in final talks to play the lead role in the upcoming dino film, and now the Parks and Recreation actor has revealed his starring role in the film. While promoting the upcoming animated flick The Lego Movie this weekend, Pratt confirmed his involvement in the film, as well explaining how the original Jurassic Park movie from 1993 had such an impact on him:
“For me, Jurassic Park was really kind of my Star Wars. I lined up at the theatre to see it, I saw it opening night, I saw every sequel, I’ve seen it a whole bunch of times… for me that was my big movie, I think I was 13 or 14 when it came out. And so it’s a big deal for me to be any part of that, let alone this part I’m going to be playing. I’m thrilled about it.”
Chris Pratt is looking to have a breakout year in 2014, continuing his run on the seventh season of Parks & Recreation, as well as starring both The Lego Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Jurassic World is going to be set 22 years after the first film, in continuation of the series rather than a complete reboot. Pratt will star opposite actress Bryce Dallas Howard, and the film will be directed by Colin Trevorrow. Apparently Pratt’s character in the movie will be Owen, a “rugged, ex-military dude” who butts heads with Bryce Dallas Howard’s character.
As for now, we don’t know much else about the film, but expect that to change in the near future once it starts filming during the Spring.
Jurassic World is set to hit theaters June 12th, 2015.
