As if Summer 2015 wasn’t already a huge season for franchise films, an adaptation to the popular video game series Assassin’s Creed is yet another addition to the roster. Michael Fassbender is set to produce and star in the film from 20th Century Fox, though it is unclear who he will play (each game in the series follows the story of a different main character).
After its release had been pushed back from May 2015 to June 2015, the film was pushed back yet again, and is now set for an August 7th, 2015 release date.
While not much else is known about the Assassin’s Creed film just yet, we should be learning more soon, with filming probably set to begin this Summer. Now, we learn that 20th Century Fox may be eying Safe House director Daniel Espinosa to helm the upcoming film, according to Twitch Film.
If you’ve seen Safe House, you may like the sound of this choice. Starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, Safe House was thrilling, gritty, and cut close-corners with its action sequences. If Espinosa ends up being the man for the job, it would fit the movie well. All video game fans really want is a film adaptation that is worth-wile and memorable.
What do you think about Daniel Espinosa being in talks to direct Assassin’s Creed? It’s set to hit theaters August 7th, 2015.
