Josh Trank’s upcoming try at a Fantastic Four film has been delayed and rewritten so many times, a lot of people are starting to question whether its existence will even be worth it. Last year, there was concern that if the movie did not start filming by a certain date in Fall 2014, the film rights to the team would be forced to revert from 20th Century FOX back to Marvel.
This is looking less and less likely each day, as we learn that X-Men Days of Future Past co-writer Simon Kinberg has reportedly completed the working script. Now, Variety reports that that actors will test by the end of the month.
For a few months now, Michael B. Jordan has been rumored to be a frontrunner for playing Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, but nothing has been made official. Jordan previously worked with Trank in the 2012 sci-fi Chronicle.
Miles Teller is in talks to play Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), as well as Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Richard Madden. As for Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Kate Mara and Saoirse Ronan are expected to test for the role.
That only leaves one team member left; Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. Nothing has been released or rumored regarding casting for the orange hero, or whether or not he’ll wear a full costume like in the previous films, or if he will consist of CGI and motion capture.
Regardless, The Fantastic Four is set to start filming in Baton Rouge, LA at the end of March, and is expected to hit theaters on June 19th, 2015.
