Although Christmas was just a few weeks ago, preparations for 2014 have already begun.
ABC announced today that they will airing Disney/Pixar’s latest holiday special, “Toy Story: The Christmas That Time Forgot” this holiday season, featuring the world’s most beloved toys. I heard about the special through Variety.com
The story will take place at a play-date shortly after Christmas where the gang of ‘Toy Story’ characters find themselves face to face with a group of action figures who are “dangerously delusional”.
As of now, the cast returning for the holiday special includes Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, and Wallace Shawn as Rex; as well as Kristen Schaal, Kevin McKidd, and Timothy Dalton.
It’s pretty obvious that Pixar is scoring big by continuing the Toy Story franchise with all of these short films, rather than trying to force a fourth feature film. I’ve enjoyed all of the shorts to date, and hope they keep doing it. Last year, ABC aired Toy Story of Terror which had a massive 10.5 million viewers.
What do you think? Is Pixar going in the right direction by delivering Toy Story shorts?
