There has been a lot of speculation over the past week since Marvel announced that it’s next One-Shot, titled “All Hail the King” would be attached to the Blu-Ray of Thor: The Dark World. Many thought that this could be a further explanation to the ending of The Dark World, while others recalled actor Ben Kingsley, star of Iron Man 3, had recently filmed a small project for Marvel, and that it could be based on his character.
Now, we learn that the answer is the latter option. The One-Shot will feature Ben Kingsley, reprising his role as the bumbling Trevor Slattery. This time around, Trevor is in prison in the aftermath of the Mandarin attacks, and the spotlight will once again fall on the drunken stage actor as he is interviewed from the prison. The synopsis, according to Super Hero Hype, reads as follows:
The 14-minute short will pick up shortly after the events of Iron Man 3, with Trevor serving time in Seagate prison (a familiar location to Marvel Comics readers) and he’s granted his first interview since he’s been imprisoned. Scoot McNairy will play the documentarian interviewing Trevor, and the topics they discuss will range from Slattery’s early acting career to whether he worries about The Ten Rings potentially targeting him “for making a mockery of their organization.”
Along with the plot details, we also get to see the first few images of the One-Shot, revealed by Entertainment Weekly.
Another exciting piece is that screenwriter Drew Pearce explained how this One-Shot may possibly introduce certain locations that have a chance of appearing in the future of the Cinematic Universe (could that be another hint and nod at Wakanda?). Pearce says, “By the end of the short, there are definitely a lot of exciting other places that are brought up in it that could then go in the Marvel universe. You know, whether that’s an Iron Man movie or another one going into Phase Two or Three.”
While this may leave a lot of people still wondering why Marvel hasn’t gone into any detail regarding the end of Thor: The Dark World, I think this is a great time to bring on the humor with Trevor Slattery’s return to the screen.
Marvel’s “All Hail The King” One-Shot will be featured on the Thor: The Dark World Blu-Ray, set for release on February 25th.
