Gerard Butler in talks to star in ‘Point Break’ Remake

It appears that actor Gerard Butler is in final negotiations to star in an upcoming remake of 1991’s surfer/bank robber film Point Break. This is the first news of the remake since Ericson Core signed on to direct the film.

Butler is best known for starring in such films as 300, Law Abiding Citizen, and Olympus Has Fallen, and while his new role in the Point Break film will be that of a surfer; that’s nothing new to him either. In 2012, he starred in the film Chasing Mavericks, which was based on surfing.

Heat Vision has recently stated that Butler’s role in the film will be “an expert extreme sports athlete who also seeks to find nirvana through the conquest of a series of athletic feats such as surfing 100-waves. He saves Johnny Utah, the undercover FBI agent, and brings him into the fold of international criminals. The part of Utah is not cast.”

Bodhi was originally played by the late Patrick Swayze back in 1991.

What do you think? Is a Point Break remake worth it if done right?
