Thor: The Dark World has been one of the most acclaimed movies from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe to date. It’s done very well in the box office with a worldwide grossing of $629.5 million, which is almost $200 million more than the first Thor movie in 2011 ($449.3 mil). There’s no doubt that it pleased a lot of fans, and now The Dark World will be coming home to viewers. The release date for its Blu-Ray has been revealed for February 25th.
With a lot of deleted/extended scenes and special features, it should be a great buy. But one special feature seems to stand out most. It was announced that a new Marvel One-Shot will be attached to the Blu-Ray, called “All Hail the King”.
For those of you who aren’t quite up to date with Blu-Ray releases or haven’t seen or heard of Marvel One-Shots; essentially they’re short films that are used to either tie events between or after each movie together, help explain things that left questioning, or just for fun to please fans.
Right when you read the title “All Hail the King”; I bet the majority of people jump to thinking it will explain what happened at the end of Thor: The Dark World itself. I’ll admit, I thought that too. I still have hope for that because I want it to be explained (I won’t spoil the ending).
Although there is a possibility of this being the case, it could also be something totally different.
Recall that actor Ben Kingsley, who played Trevor Slattery in Iron Man 3, said that he filmed something extra with Marvel after Iron Man’s release, leading to speculation that we could get a Trevor Slattery One-Shot (one of the shorts that is just meant to be humorous).
It isn’t out of the question…’All Hail The King’-sley could be a play on words. But I think a lot of people at this point would rather see the explanation for The Dark World’s end scene, and save the untitled Kingsley project for a later time. I feel the same way.
What do you guys think? Are you hoping ‘All Hail The King’ is about Thor: The Dark World’s final scene, or about the bumbling Trevor Slattery?
Thor: The Dark World is set to be released on Blu-Ray & DVD on February 25th.
